Cultural Experience 1 Puede ser Garfield, pero maldita la buena

My friend and I decided to go to Peoria after school for some Chinese food after school the other day. We cruising down Main st. and I saw a Chinese Restaurant right before University street. As we were walking across the steet I noticed a sign that said thanh LINH out of the corner of my eye. I looked at my buddy and asked what the hell it was. I knew it was in Vietnamese so I decided to walk over and see what it was. I read the window and it said, "thanh LINH Authentic Vietnamese Cuisine. I turned back to Kurt and told him that we should check it out because I needed a cultural experience, and I had never had Vietnamese food before. When we walked in, it was nothing like I expected. It was very small with a lot of tables crammed into the room. There were pictures of Vietnamese babies and children decorating the walls along with very detailed and enthralling Vietnamese art. We were greeted at the door by a Vietnamese guy that reminded me of Tao from Gran Torino. He was a very respectable guy and spoke perfect English. We decided to sit down and look at the menu. After a few minutes of consideration we both decided to just get the buffet. There were many different foods that I had nevr tried before. Amongst those were many different Vietnamese prepaed "chicken" dishes. LOL. They were all very good, especially the Curry Chicken. If you havent had it before you should totally try it. The taste is undescribable. It tastes like........everything. The culture was very different there. There was no salt or pepper in the whole place. They have soy sauce and other hot sauces in place of them. The only thing I didnt like about the place was the mix cd playing over and over on the cd player. Too much Bon Jovi for me. There was always a waitress right there to pick up your plate or refill your drink. So if you want a good, hospitable experience at a low cost, check out thanh LINH at 1223 W. Main St. Peoria
